Many Sussex masons participate in a wide range of shooting sports; in particular the many rough shoots, game shoots, wildfowling and, of course clay shoots
Informal clay shoots provide an opportunity for non masons and partners as well as masons to meet and get to know each other, united by a common interest in shooting.
In several other provinces specific shooting sports lodges have been formed, we have now formed one here, based in Chichester. Go to Artemis Lodge for more details.
Informal clay pigeon shoots are held on a regular basis at Southdown Gun Club, the mid week ones being on the morning of the second Wednesday in the month. Other events such as charity and weekend shoots are organised on an occasional basis. Southdown is conveniently located just north of Worthing near Findon and is right in the heart of the South Downs. Due to the Pandemic and Southdown opening limitations, shoots are now held on the second Friday in the month until further notice
The dates for 2020 are as follows:
11th March, 10th July, 14th August, 11th September, 9th October, 13th November and 11th December.
